The 2016 vintage of Bouland’s Morgon is probably the best wine under $30 in stock at Hopper’s now.
Bouland’s Morgon comes from a single hectare of vines planted by Bouland’s grandfather in 1926 on a steep south-east facing slope. Vine age combined with Morgon`s schist bedrock and granitic sand perhaps account for the wine`s fabulous structure. The 2016 has a darker, more structured profile as always but it is certainly a much more approachable version of this wine. Like all the Bouland wines there is wonderful purity, precision and clarity that is rare in most wines. It will be lovely in five years but it’s excellent drinking now.
