Quick Reminder: Special Peter Weygandt Tasting Thursday, Aug 23rd. Advance reservations required. Please see details below this note.
We hope you’ll join us from 3-6 p.m. this Saturday for our complimentary tasting. Typically we have two white wines, or rosé, and two red wines to present. It’s just too hot, however, not to concentrate on cooler libation. Therefore we present the following combination:
Lucien Albrecht Cremant d’Alsace Brut Rosé: Sparkling rosé is always welcome and fun, especially if it is well made and from 100% Pinot Noir grapes; this is completely dry, with some richness to offer a much more substantial wine than you would anticipate; we included this Cremant in our selection about a month ago, and it has become very popular so we decided to offer you a taste.
Vincent Sauvestré “Sainte-Victoire” Rosé 2011 Côtes de Provence: Sainte-Victoire became its own appellation in 2005, and the restrictions on which grapes can be used and the yield are more stringent than for just Côtes de Provence; the area is famous for Mount Sainte Victoire, and it appears in many paintings by Paul Cézanne; the wines are light, dry, and flavorful; the blend is Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault; this is another wonderful rosé we are confident you will want to take home.
Cháteau La Graviere 2011 Entré-deux-Mers Blanc: This delightful wine from the Bordeaux region has been a part of our selection for more than two years; produced from Sauvignon and Semillon, it is dry, but has a generous amount of fruit to enjoy as an aperitif or with a lighter foods we enjoy in the summer; it is a remarkable wine for the price…you will be shocked how inexpensive it is.
Chateau Saint Maurice “Les Parcellaires” Côtes du Rhone 2010: The lone red, but one that would be ideal for lighter meat and with a slight chill, perhaps 30-40 minutes in the fridge; the blend here is Grenache, Syrah, and some old vine Carignan; not just a simple example, one can get a sense of earth, fruit and some character which is really amazing given the price, under $15!
We are pouring exceptional wines. I hope you can join us for this and the Peter Weygandt Tasting on Thursday.
