Saturday, June 2nd Tasting

Time to explore white wines for the summer.  Four different wines, four different styles and four different prices, which should give you a wine selection for just about any event.

Chateau La Graviére Entre-deux-Mers 2010 : from Bordeaux, located between the Dordogne and Garonne rivers, hence the appellation name; produced from mainly sauvignon blanc with sémillon, however not grassy nor tart, rather it is soft, very fresh on the aroma and taste with enough fruit to provide enjoyment as an aperitif, or with light fish dishes and salads; the price of this wine is just as attractive as the taste!

Bodegas Eidosela Albarino 2010 : spring is a great time to dine on the patio or in a courtyard, beginning with boiled or sauté shrimp accompanied by a cool glass of Spanish Albarino; we sell quite of bit of this varietal as it works so well with our climate and seafood; Eidosela is a new discovery which has now become our favorite example for under $20; clean, bright, refreshing and delicious, this wine is a pleasure to drink.

Olivier Leflaive Bourgogne Blanc “Les Sétilles” 2009 : the source of the grapes that produce this wine come from two vineyards, one that abuts Meursault and the other Puligny-Montrachet; while this wine is not on the same level, it does have class and character and there is no mistaking that this is chardonnay from Burgundy; we typically purchase this wine every vintage, but we think the extra richness of the 2009 vintage makes this wine even better than in 2007 or 2008.

Jean-Jacques Girard Pernand-Vergelesses “Les Belles Filles” 2010 : this delicious white Burgundy is perfect for enjoyment while it is young and fresh; most white Pernand tend to be tight and somewhat lean, so we were very surprised by the generous fruit on Les Belles Filles, and the sheer pleasure of drinking a younger wine guiltlessly.

The tasting begins at 3:00pm and ends at 6:00pm.  It is going to hot on Saturday, so get your errands and chores done early and join us for some very well priced, delicious and refreshing white wines.

Looking forward to seeing you,
